Casino surprise
I've been scrimping for a year, saving my pocket change, sold 2 of my guns (gasp!) and some other little stuff, have my fly rod up for sale. I was just a few hundred shy of the required funds for a set of pipes. I've been playing various loaner sets from my teacher for the better part of the last year.
My wife wanted to go to the casino the other night in honor of her late brother's birthday. After we'd been there a little while (I'm reading in the lounge area, she plays the slots) she came up and handed me a wad of cash and said "You now own bagpipes." Holy $#%t is she great or what? They should arrive by the end of June. I'm still a bit shocked but it's a good shock. So the Jonesing begins.

Congratulations!
(BTW, she's a keeper! Be sure to get her a good set of earplugs. Not that your playing will be bad, but so she can appreciate your musical endeavors while staying in the same room with you for years to come.)

Congratulations, both on your choice of women, and your good fortune. Just curious, what pipes are you waiting on?
All skill and effort is to no avail when an angel pees down your drones.

Yes, she IS a keeper. There will be no indoor playing, we're surrounded by pasture and hay, so the only ones who care are the cows and horses.
I ordered a set of McCallum AB4 Deluxe with imitation ivory mounts, Victorian engraving, Ross bag and MG reeds. I'd been playing a similar set for a few weeks (but with Ezee Drones in the tenors and Kinnaird bass) and they fit me well and sounded great. I got them from Tartantown in Vancouver, BC, and Terry Lee guided me along with suggestions such as the MG's. Super nice guy and great store.
