comedy film 1905 with a kilt...

Here is something a little bit different, a comedy film made in 1905, it came to my attention on a model railway Forum (RMWEB) due to the carriages in the back ground at the start.
And Yes the kilt is involved,,...

In 1905, as today in film, product placement (advertisement) is key. Can anyone here tell us about "EMU" Australian bourbon? I already have a clue about golf and frightening maids.

That quick glimpse of the sign has allowed a misreading, Emu Brand Burgundy not Bourbon,
Again from the model railway thread an image of that very type of enamelled advertising sign.

I doubt the advert was placed for the film, British railway stations of the time were plastered with paper and enamel Advertisments from which the many railway companies made a nice income.

Thank you for a great giggle

Here's a link to some info about the Emu Wine
    http://www.visitvineyards.com/south-...u-wine-company

Every golfer must be cringing at his mistreatment of the poor golf clubs.

    - Does his jacket indeed whole outfit mean he is a military man or was the outfit just the fashion of the time?
    - Was the pulling things out of his underwear a comic affection for the film or did men use underwear to store their valuables?

Thank you, and Q, for the wine (not hard spirits) info.

I have seen my dad abuse clubs with the same vigor but never in the house.

I think his total outfit was an attempt to enhance the formality of the visit (showing up in his best attire).

Pulling things from his undergarment was comic relief (in my opinion). He had a golf bag to carry items in and was not letting go of it for much of the film. Reality would have produced a money purse from his belt or sporran.
