I'm so angry! I just found out that the KKK has a branch called the Nighthawks...

I'm so disgusted... I need to change my name... This is my last ever post as Nighthawk. I don't need that association. See you all soon as Flies_With_The_Nighthawks.

Don't fret yourself over morons and don't let them appropriate your language either. Reclaim it for yourself. Besides, your new name isn't any better in that regard.

yeah i agree with xman stick with yer old name "flies with" to me sounds like your in cahoots with them,
or ask the mods to alter your name for you

I agree with skauwt. Flies with sounds like you are collaberating. Stick with Nighthawk. No one would ever connect.

You could take some comfort in the fact that you share this dilemma with Vince Giordano and company:

...and you could always add a disclaimer..."not affiliated with..."

Don't worry, stuff like this happens all the time. Just talk to an intellectual property lawyer...but only if he's not billing you for the time.

KKK...Skinheads...gangbangers......I wouldn't get to worked up over it. Your going to find that just about any name can be co-opted by any given group.

I agree with everyone else, don't change it, I doubt anyone would ever make that connection.

As an aside, I had a Cherokee brother whom was given the name Nighthawk...I doubt it bothered him much

I agree that "Flies with" sounds like there is an implied association. And "The Original" may be worse if that crossed your mind. May as well be "Grand Dragon Nighthawk." I concurr that a disclaimer in your signature is best.

Beside that there are only so many words out there, so if you changed it to "Pink Pigeon Wrangler" you may find another group using the name that you'd rather not be associated with!

Those who know you won't care about it, and those who don't probably won't know about it anyway.
