There are a few things about this bag that strike me as very odd indeed.
However, a cantle is a cantle, and at least that part looks normal.
Hopefully some lucky X-Marker will pick this one up.

I am not sure if the seller is saying the sporran is from the Boer war or that someone who owned it at some time was in the Boer War. As far as I can research the cantle was made, post 1953 and is known as the MKll MoD brass cantle. The bag appears near indentical with those issued with the sporran in that era (though I also concur with Artificer that there are some issues with it), as does the method of attachment. The black leather on the rear of the bag is an add on, in my opinion, and the badge on the front appears to be set way too high on the bag

It was my assumption that the seller is trying to tie the sporran to some semi-famous chap who, early in his career, was mentioned by Kitchener. I'm with you, the black back panel is very odd, and obviously an addition, the badge appears to ride far too high (even though the rear side appears to have holes punched at the proper height). Additionally, I've never seen a bag that was issued that didn't have the soldier's name written on the inside. Maybe getting your cantle engraved is the posh way to do it, but it's out of 'pattern'. I also think it's odd that the name is so faint.

Harold is correct. At this time I am not making cantles available separately. They only come as "complete sporrans".
What I was referring to is the possibility of a custom-cut, hand-built, hand-finished cantle for anywhere near $75.
