FINALLY got the job offer; YAY!
It's a massive pay cut from my last job, but after 8 months of NO pay (except the 2 months of substitute teaching) I'm thrilled to say yes to this one.
I start on Monday, and they're cool with me taking the Ski Trip and Desert Trip in March and April that we already paid for. I'll be able to be kilted here, fairly often, too....AND my job is literally steps away from the Beckman Bistro, with the best coffee on campus. I can have lunch with the Luminous Joan, she'll only be working about 300 yards away from me.
The job is tech support...some desktop, some server-side in the Beckman Center, a major research facility, at the Stanford Medical Center. Huzzah!

Right on, man! I hope I'm next in line to get a job offer. (I'm so sick of filling out applications I could scream. You had 8 mos.- I've been living on nothing but my student aid for three years now. But with school winding up, I'll have the time free so that there won't be any schedule conflicts keeping me from the wonderful world of employment.)

Congrats Alan. Although a pay cut sucks, working is better than the alternative! I am happy for you and I am sure your bride is thrilled.

Congratulations. Perhaps the perk more than make up the pay difference.

A great reason to celebrate! What say we throw on some kilts and paint one of those SF Bay Area towns in tartan colors?
