Florida reenactors?
First off, let me say "hello!" to everyone; I've been gone for quite some time (was hurt on the job, etc) and have finally made it back to the world of everything I happen to love and be interested in; to that end... I'm scouring X-Marks once more!
Now, I did a search for "Florida reenactors" but came up empty. I was in St. Augustine recently for the Night Watch parade and have kindled an interest in Colonial reenacting. I'm located in Sarasota, Florida... and am curious if anyone in the area (or anyone who knows anyone in the area, that being... Florida) is involved and can point me in the right direction to contact folks.
Thanks for your time!

Hi! Check out the British Brigade (www.britishbrigade.org) for British Revolutionary War reenacting units, the Continental Line (www.continentalline.org) for American units, and the Brigade of the American Revolution (www.brigade.org) for both.
It looks like the nearest American unit may be in South Carolina, and the nearest British might be in North Carolina, though. A lot of the links to individual units are outdated, so they aren't much help.
Send me a PM and I can put you in touch with some British and American commanders and they can probably help you out.
These guys are my favorie reenacting group, if only for the kilts!

There's a ton of Pirates down your way. Check out "No Quarter Given".

Excellent suggestion!
I also know of a Spanish colonial group out of the St. Augustine area, but they might be earlier than what you seek (16th century).
What exactly is your interest?

I appreciate the responses...
As for the Pirates, I used to do that type of Ren / Pirate Fest work in the 90's and early 2000's. (I was in "No Quarter Given", in fact!).
BoldHighlander, I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking to do; I was hoping to find a good forum or website to check out. I think the St. Augustine folks are the 60th Royal Americans.... if memory serves, but I'm not having much luck finding a website for them (just did a quick search). I do know I'm looking for groups based mainly in the Tampa area.
Dutchy, thanks for the links! I'll check them out. I also figure I can contact some Civil War groups and see if they know more...
I do appreciate all of the feedback. Thank you.

I have some links that you might find of interest:
The St. Augustine Garrison (1740 - 1742)
The "Florida Frontier Guard" Seminole Wars Living History Association, 1835-1842
Florida Reenactors Online (ACW)
The Brigade of the American Revolution
...not all units in the BAR's southern dept (or as a whole) have websites. You'll have to contact them to find out who maybe in Florida (I believe they have members representing the Regmiento di la Luisiana, but I maybe wrong).

There used to be some Spanish-American War reenactors in the Tampa area, given Tampa's important role in 1898; they used to hold events at Ft. De Soto.

There is a group of Scottish Highlander Colonial reenactors representing the 1730's in Georgia who occasion to events in Florida. I think I could put you in touch with them if you like. Really great bunch of guys.

Would that be Clann of the Wolf?
They do have a Florida representation listed.
Is that the same group as Clann Nan Con?
