Fourty, Here I come!
Forty here I am! Today I join the ranks of all the other fortysomethings. I have heard many people complain about it or say they are gradually getting used to the idea of turning the big 4 0 and frankly I don’t get it. I am saying goodbye to my thirties and it is a big change.
Mostly people try to avoid it, but you absolutely can’t. It happens to us all and now it’s just my time to go through it.
Honestly, I am absolutely embracing it. I think I am in a good place in life, I have a good job, a beautiful wife, and hopefully soon we will be adopting a child. I am also doing more things that I enjoy; I joined a Pipe band and am learning how to play the bagpipes, something I have always wanted to do.
I don’t see turning 40 as a mile stone, or a grave stone. I see it as the beginning of the rest of my life, I am going to enjoy these next years, however many there will be, I will live them to the fullest!
It’s going to be a great year, I can feel it!

Well . . . if you insist on having birthdays, you will get older! Congratulations any way!

Happy Birthday to you. It is great to hear someone with so much they are enjoying that is starting to fall into place and whom have positive hopes for their future endeavors. I wish you many more fine days like this. Good luck with the adoption as well; I know many whom have gone through the process and all those that have completed it have said they would go through all the headaches all over again knowing how great the outcome.

Good for you, and good luck with the adoption. Hope all goes well.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Happy birthday! Just wear your kilt as much as you can. All the days feel better that way.

Many happy returns and good luck with the adoption. We adopted 2 at age 39 and it was a bit like putting your foot on the age accelerator for a few years.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Happy 40th Birthday! If anyone tries to extract the michael, you can try my stock response of, "well it sure beats the alternative!" I hope your adoption works out, I was 41 when my son was born, and it is hard work but great - all the very best Kyle

Welcome to the "fourtysomethings!" I believe this is where we get to enjoy the finer things, such as grey in the beard and maybe a bit of padding around the middle. Remember...some things get better with age: wine, cheese, and scotch, to name a few. Why not us??
Congrats, and many happy returns!! Happy birthday!
