A Fun Tartan Weaving Project
I have a new weaving project on the loom. This one is just for fun. It is cotton and will be made into curtains.

I'm still a novice weaver, so it took a couple of tries to get this on the loom properly. But it is finally on, and the weaving is going well.

That's beautiful. Lots of hard work going on there! Probably a good thing that I don't have room for a loom. . . too many projects and interests already!

Looks great! The color choice should brighten up the room in the dark months. Are you working your way up to heavier ( and more expensive ) wool?

Yes, I'm definitely working my way up to wool. Good worsted wool in the right diameter (around 18/2 or 20/2) is difficult to find, as well as expensive.
If anyone knows any good sources for wool yarn I would appreciate knowing about them.

Very cool! Do you do custom orders?

Beautiful work, truitt! I'm a very amateur, occasional weaver (I currently have some tartan scarves on my loom from over a year ago, a project that stalled because the warp really needs to be re-beamed) and I always come back to tartan; it's just so pleasing to watch the twill pattern and symmetry of stripes emerge as you go. If you haven't looked at them already, Halcyon Yarn sells Jaggerspun worsted "Maine line" yarn in 2/20 weight - you can get a fairly inexpensive sample card from them. They're currently selling it for $56.40 per 1 lb cone, which they say is about 5600 yards.
Drat! There was another fine worsted wool that was carried by Yarn Barn, but it looks like the source company may have disappeared - it might be worth dropping them a line to ask if they can recommend a replacement for "EPiC 99" yarn.

Tobus,
Thanks for the compliment, but I'm definitely not considering custom orders...yet. I need to get much more efficient at dressing the loom.
Usonian,
Thank you, too. I have looked at the Jaggerspun and at Borgs 2/20 Mora, which is a bit more expensive than the Jaggerspun. I will definitely look into the EPiC 99 and potential replacement.
