    George Macdonald Fraser has died

    No more Flashman.

No more MacAuslan, the dirtiest soldier in the Army.

I've read, I believe, all the Flashman books, several times. Fraser took light tales about a cad and laced them with dead-nuts solid military history, and made the whole thing readable and enjoyable.

Gentlemen: I lift a toast of bitter roast to George Macdonald Fraser!

Sad. The Flashman novels are great! I also highly recommend his non-fiction book The Steel Bonnets, about the Anglo-Scottish "border reivers"....
