Getting the gear together
...it's gonna be 83 degrees here today...Lake Michigan is something like ten degrees warmer today than it was a year ago...got a new reel and an eight foot four weight rod that I haven't used before....fishing licenses expire/get renewed on April 1st!
It is looking pretty promising but if it's gonna be a hot summer. I better get up to Minnesota and go after the trouts sooner than later. Tyin' some flies later on this evening...
Best

Those must be the antique degrees that the rest of us used to use in the "old days."

Just spooled up a couple reels today and wondering how our strange weather this year will end out effecting the local white bass run.

Reverend Father, to this easily-amused mind, there is a bit of irony in enjoying membership in a forum which revels in the history, lore, display, proper accoutrements of...
...a perhaps somewhat arcane garment, the kilt...
...and simultaneously hearing "promotion-lite," of the metric system for temerature measurement. 'Woulda thought kilties in general would be equally or more receptive to yards, fingers, Fahrenheit, arshins, table spoons, cubits, lines, knight's fees, stones, furlongs and stadii...
...out now to walk the Scottish Terrier in the above referenced delightfully warm Fahrenheit degrees of metro Chicago...in a month named for a pagan god. Peace and love from a "not-entirely establishment-civilized-reformed" hippie.

Surely kilties would prefer to go with the more European metric system?

Not this one! Acres, chains, furlongs, yards, feet , inches, miles, pints, gallons, stones, pounds, ounces have done me perfectly well for quite a long time now, thank you.

I agree really Jock. Whenever I go back home and drive through Donegal, I still can't get my head around the km/hr!

I remember the first thing I had to do for homework in high school physics was figure out the speed of light in furlongs per fortnight.
