Glad I wasn't wearing a kilt.
It's very disconcerting when you get overtaken by one of your own car's rear wheels. This happened to me last night, luckily I was pulling into the hard shoulder as it happened. I was wearing the dreaded shorts instead of my kilt even though they were so uncomfortable, but they ended up filthy dirty after I retreived my stray wheel from the central reservation.
Here's a tip though.
1. If you wear glasses for reading, make sure you have them with you so you can read the number you have to dial for recovery.
2. Make sure you have a charged battery on your phone.
3. Make sure you have minutes left on your phone.
I failed all three but at least I wasn't wearing my kilt which would probably have been ruined. The kilt god was taking care of me at least!

First and most important thing: glad you are safe.
I had that happen to me once. Fortunately the car slid into a nice soft grassy median. It was 1979 so there were no cell phones, just a 1 mile walk to get new lug nuts. I was in the Marines and was wearing "Cammies", no kilt.

There seem to be a lot of kilt wearing Marines around. Glad you survived too, it was a bit of a heart stopping moment. I may just as well not had the phone, but at least I was able to call the Guardia Civil who were very helpful.

I had that happen once - my front wheel took off on its own without the rest of the car. Not a fun experience, but I'm glad to hear you came out of it without huge issues

Thanks, I imagine loosing a front wheel would be much worse.
