I'm not sure if this belongs in this area but I wanted to share this with you all. http://www.firstgiving.com/glencoetrust
Sounds a bit ironic a Campbell looking for donations for this. There are a lot of MacDonalds who haven't forgiven them to this day. Does anybody know anything about this because it sounds a bit like the James Campbell benevolent fund? Scottish Natural Heritage (http://www.snh.org.uk/) and the National Trust(http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/) look after places like this if you want a bona fide place for your cash. And here is an article for those who don't know the history - http://www.electricscotland.com/history/glencoe/
I believe the National Trust & SNH are more into preserving the natural areas and the beautiful park. The Clan Donald Glencoe Trust is into preserving sites in and near the village of Glencoe including the Glencoe monument itself.

And here is an article for those who don't know the history - http://www.electricscotland.com/history/glencoe/ As a Donald I'd just like to point out here that not all of us are silly enough to hold that grudge. (And register my discomfort that the Electric Scotland article, while factual, titled it 'The massacre of the Macdonalds of Glencoe by the Campbells.') After all, if Macdonald of Glengarry hadn't DELIBERATELY delayed King James' messenger Macdonald of Glencoe whould have had plenty of time to sign the document and there would have been no excuse for reprisals. And the fact that one Campbell was in charge of the soldiers does not make an entire clan and their progeny responsible for the political outcome of a very complicated mess of happenings. I'll end my rant here. I just get all fired up at that whole mess. Makes my people look like they are stubborn or something. Thank you for the link. It does look like a worthy cause indeed.
Interesting this has been dredged up from nearly twelve months ago. Did anyone ever hear about this - http://www.firstgiving.com/glencoetrust ? As I said at the time, there are established bodies here in Scotland where money can be safely donated for the upkeep of these sites.
