    Happy Birthday, Scotland-style

I used to work at an ad agency, and whenever someone's birthday rolled around, we tried to come up with a unique idea for a card and/or a cake. Generally, it was my job to come up with an idea, and the art department's job to institute it. Two of the graphic artists (Ken and Lauren) had a decent supply of silly toys on their desks, and they had a tendency to turn all of the toys toward each other so that they were all mooning the other one. Lauren worked part time, and periodically, when she was on her way out the door to pick up her kids, I would see her out the door with "arrrrright, fine, go, you've stayed yer hourrrrr," from "So I Married An Axe Murderer." So when Lauren's birthday rolled around, I thought it would be funny to combine the two and do a theme that involved a bum cake surrounded by a kilt. Ken's wife created a brilliant cake, using bowls for the cheeks:

Another coworker, Paige, bought some plaid fabric, starched it, and ironed pleats into it, creating the "kilt." She also found a graphic of a kilted Homer Simpson, replaced his head with each of my coworkers', and created kilts for each graphic so that each one of us was sporting our family tartan, if we had one. The card was mounted so that we could lift the kilt and add our signatures/notes/niceties. I completed the theme with a soundtrack to be played while we ate cake. All of the songs centered around the posterior (Baby Got Back, Fat-Bottomed Girls, Big Bottom, etc.) but the initial song was, of course, The Scotsman. Lauren loved it, and we had a fantastic time putting it all together.

Thought y'all might get a kick out of that.
