Happy Mothers' Day!
Happy Mothers' Day to all the lassies out there who have brought new life into our world -- even if, 15 years later, they sat over coffee or a dram of aqua vitae and wondered why.
And to those of us who are blessed enough to still have our mothers with us, call. Send a card. Visit. Go to the store and pick up some daisies. Do something.
I firmly believe that the angels have come to collect my 85-year-old mother twice in the past two years, only to have Mom tell them to take a hike. Next time they come, however, I'm not so sure she won't have her carry-on bag packed and her boarding pass ready.
What I'm saying is, you never know when the last Mother's Day you spend with your mom will be the last Mother's Day you spend with your mom.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

Hallelujah ... so true, so true.

I sent my mother flowers and a teddy bear. I am the good son, but according to her she has two sons, one that never shuts up, my younger brother and one that says nothing, me.

My mother has passed on, but we will be going to see my wife's mother later today. Tomorrow she will be going into the hospital for her second mastectomy. She is in her 80's, and still going, maybe not as string as she used to be, but still going.

Too true. We came close to losing Mom a couple months ago. Since I lost my job and we've sold our house, my wife and I have moved in with Mom and Dad. Mom is 84 and one of the most stuborn women I know. We took her to church this AM and then cooked her brunch. She was wanting to go out but decided that this was much better than the resturants. At coffee after church there was a snack that she was ready to fight to get as much as she wanted. Still doesn't know that she is on a low fat diet. Oh well, we still love her and do our best to keep her fat consumption low on average.
