Have you ever had a 'Who's on first?' Moment?
Last Saturday I was out listening to some music and at least 4 people asked me "What's your clan?"
To which I replied I'm a Scott.
All of them said something like I got that from your kilt, but what's your clan?
Four of them all at different times. It was kind of a theme, lol.

ha! Love it. I enjoy those kinds of situations a bit more than I should.
One my dad used to use was "I'm more human than you, and I'm only ¼ human" because his grandmother's last name was "Human"

My grandfather's name was "Few." He was chief engineer at Labatt's back in the day when John Labatt actually operated the brewery.
An annoying co-worker was continually bragging that his ancestors came to North America on the Mayflower (why anyone in Canada would be impressed with an iconic American bit of history eludes me) and finally my Granda' told him that his ancestors came over on the ark.
When the fellow laughed and jeered at him, Gramps pointed him to I Peter 3:20 where it says in part, "...God waited patiently in the days of Noah, during the building of the ark, in which a Few, that is, eight persons, were saved through water. "
Ah yes. Heritage!

At a free reggae concert in downtown San Jose a young man reeking of …well let's say he had a strong herbal scent and his eyes were a tad glazed came up to me. He pointed at my kilt and said "Dutch right?". I smiled and laconically corrected him with "Scot" as a reply. He processed this for a moment and stuck out his hand. "Hi Scott..." he said cheerfully and followed with "…I'm Joe"
sigh
Cheers

I just love people's responses to the questions they ask you while Kilted, and you tell them directly what the correct answer is, always good for a laugh.

These posts do remind me of Abbott and Costello but more so, Art Linkletter's "Kids say the darn'dest things." I needed to laugh today. Thanks

Yup. Been there, drone that. When asked, I usually said "Clan Scott - with 2 t's".
I haven't been able to say that lately - sold my red Scott last year to dadgad - a member of the forum who plays with the Baltimore City Pipe Band, who happen to wear Modern Scott Red kilts as their uniform.

Haaa , now that's too funny ! A perfect opportunity for a little humor and messing with his mind .
I hope you did the hand shake and said ... " Hi Joe , I'm Jamie " .
Whereupon he would probably have processed that for a moment and said ... " Dude , I thought you were Scott " . At that moment you could have said , " No ... you met Scott earlier today , I'm Jamie " .
