Having my wisdom teeth removed 7/1.
It's going to be a GOOD time! Let me tell ya!

My wife's taking the day off to drive me there. I'm debating to go Kilted or not. Should i trust the dentist enough to do that?

no
When I got mine out some years ago, I woke up and tried to stand up and fell over on the floor.... (Still under the influence of aenesthesia) this was after the procedure of course... and I had little blood splatter spots on my kahki pants... I remember it like it was yesterday.
So if you do not mind falling over in a kilt, getting a blue ribbon, and getting blood on your kilt (You could always say it was a knife fight, thats what I do...) then go for it!

I had a similar experience...I had all 4 removed at once (I started cutting them on my birthday that year). I don't recall any blood spatters, but I did attempt involuntary heaving after coming to even though there was nothing there to hurl. I was walked directly from the chair to the car outside and driven home...then walked from the car inside to the bedroom where I had a nice nap. The directions were to keep me awake, but there's no way that was going to happen.
Had the usual swelling and all that, but really no major pain. The dentist did a great job.
So be comfortable but dress for the endgame.

Got mine out 30 years ago and remember it like it was yesterday. First one under Nitrous Oxide anesthesia, when I came this close to meeting God before they woke me up. Second set of three under heavy Valium and opiates left me drunk feeling for a whole weekend.
Since you are going to be under anesthesia anyway why worry about the dentist doing a kilt check---you wouldn't know it anyway.
Plan for lots of cold soft or liquid things (beer counts) available for the first few days as you will not feel like chewing anything firmer than jello. And have a couple old style ice bags available to help ease the pain and swelling around the corners of your jaws---those refreezable gel packs just do not do the job.
Have fun and good luck. Don't worry, you won't lose any wisdom just becasue they are taking out your wisdom teeth----that is just an old wives tale.

I hope your surgery goes well and you are back on your feet as soon as possible.
Mine were removed by the US Army and they didn't offer the "knockout gas" option. I remember all four of mine (two per sitting) quite vividly.
Of course they were kind enough to hit me with enough Novocaine to numb an elephant.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

And this is the advice coming from the [s]-anesthesiologist-[/s]*, himself.

*Oops - Radiologist. I'm sure he saw through my meaning, though.

At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

That is a valid, and scary point.

good luck!
The only thing I remember is my mouth hurt for what seemed like a week. Fortunately (or not) mine were partially erupted so they could get them out relatively 'easy'.
