How did you choose your forum name?

I was with two forum members yesterday and asked them how they chose their forum names. I personally have difficulty in choosing such names, and passwords.

In my case, before I became a member of this forum, I attended a Highland Games in Washington DC in my Hay tartan Kilt for the first time. I was heartily welcomed by the members at the Clan Hay tent and invited to march with them in the Parade of Clans. As we approached the portal to be introduced to the crowd, our leader said we should give the Clan Hay warcry which is A Hay! A Hay! A Hay!. When I stumbled across the X Marks the Scot website and decided to join, that came to mind and thus why I use that as my forum name.

Some forum members have obvious reasons for chosing their on-line names, but others are more intriguing.

Could I ask members to share their thoughts, if you choose to do so?

    Thanks,

    Tom

I just went with the original spelling of my surname. The spelling has changed, but the pronunciation has not.

Easy. It is my family/clan tartan --- Forrester Modern (which interestingly I discovered from the clan association was actually supposedly designed with ancient colors in mind but ended up with something kind of in between).

Simple really, I was new to the mysteries of the Internet and Xmarks was the first website that I joined. I suppose a natural caution lead me to a web-name. The choice was simple, "Jock Scot" was the name of the fly that I caught my first salmon with, all those years ago and besides no one else was using a fishing fly as a name and it makes a nice avatar, I think.

For once, I decided not to come up with anything different and just use my first name.

Grew up on the river, still love being on rivers and exploring them to the smallest tributary...and now kilted is the way to do it...

And, when younger had ambitions of being a river guide in Glen Canyon on the Colorado while kilted.

    forum name

My first name is Ronald. Years ago I dated a young lass from Argentina. She would tease me by calling me "Reinaldo" but with an over the top rolling of the "R". The guys I hung out with used to mock the whole "Reinaldo" thing so I asked Juana to shorten it. She said "Okay, I call you Rondo". It stuck and has been my name for 35 years. Only time it has ever been a problem was on some music websites [rondo is a recurring theme in a musical piece], or people talking about a certain car, soft drink, or basketball player.

Mine is pretty simple. I am a ballistic technician at Federal Ammunition. We are called "Gunners" by everyone in the plant.

A warehouse-sized cave, a stout door, and hundreds of thousands of books.
