I was burgled today.
Yep. My house was broken into, television set stolen and a lot of things that I liked destroyed to no purpose.
I knew something was wrong when Abigail (my very inside dog) met me outside. It rained today so she was very wet and obviously glad to see me.
We went inside to find my place "trashed." Fortunately, I keep my real valuables in a large, imposing safe. The thieves were not able to enter it, though they did ruin an impressive amount of cutlery trying.
I think one may have cut himself. There is blood on a door frame and some mismatched kilt hose are missing.
Not sure why I'm posting. I'm not traumatized. I am annoyed.
Anyway. If there is a moral to this story it's "take precautions."
May this never happen to you.

Yep, I've had that happen. Not much was taken except for my loose change - the kilt kitty - and an iPod and a docking player. Several doors and drawers were left open and things were strewn about - the new Christmas ornaments had been moved and unwrapped in the middle of the living room - I kind of thought that was funny that they took some care with those - but the thing that REALLY annoyed me? They took one of a matching pair of pillow cases to haul away the change.
What am I supposed to do with ONE pillow case???
I feel for ya.
Regards,
Rex.

Sorry to hear this.
I hate thieves and I was distraught even when I had my wallet stolen - so I can't imagine how you feel just now. I hope everything goes ok and they're caught.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I have also come home to find my castle walls breached as it were and it is a feeling you never want to have. In my case the only real loss was a gold necklace that my mother had brought home for me from Paris. The cops figured it was kids, because they also took a small pair of pearl earrings (with gold findings) and left the much more valuable pearl necklace that was in the same box!
Glad to hear that you were better protected than I, and that your dog hung around after being let out. I fear my cats would have been long gone. And it's still a feeling you never want to have.

My car was broken into several years ago and all that was stolen was a few old 80's "one hit wonder band" cassette tapes (that dates it doesn't it) and ONE weight lifting glove. I've spent every day since then looking for a one armed weight lifter with a mullet. He will rue the day
Sorry it happened to you, but luckily no one was harmed.

I'm sorry to hear this.
On the bright side, stuff ultimately doesn't matter and stuff can always be replaced.
The real things that matter are our loved ones.

Deepest condolences. It is absolutely frightening to feel like your property is vulnerable to the whims of others. I had my pick-up broken into a while ago and they stole my cds as well as my Utilikilt. I was so angry when it happened. Even more at the fact that the perpetrators probably had no idea what they took and threw it out. It was my first kilt, I still get upset even discussing it. Again, though, I am sorry to hear of it. May they fall victim to their own actions.

Sorry to hear this news but glad to hear your safe defeated them. It can't feel good to have your space invaded this way and I hope the memory fades soon.

I hate to hear you had this experience. Happened to me in college. Someone crawled through my dormroom window and stole my CD player-but they left one speaker behind. Idiot! Anyway, nice to know you keep your kilts (real valuables) in your safe!
