    I got shortbread!

A friend from church stopped by the Scottish Tartans Museum in Franklin this summer and, since she knows I wear kilts, thought of me. She brought me back some shortbread made in Scotland.

I'm only joking when I say, "A kilt would have been nicer." Truly, I think the fact that she thought of me and brought back shortbread was a very nice gesture.

    Aren't friends great?

Friends are great. Gestures like that make life that much better.

A very nice gift. I really like shortbread as well!

My Dad used to call shortbread (and anything that was a treat but not really sweet) "Dad goodies" since my sister and I would usually leave them alone in favor of something horribly sweet.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

I went to great means to bring back shortbread from Scotland a few years ago. We bought it for all of our friends at shops. Just the basic stuff for most (Walkers) and a few nice tins for family. Low and behold our two grocery stores in the town I live in carry both products for less than we paid in the UK.

We still enjoyed it! Enjoy yours! Friends are great.

We at the Northeast Clan Donnachaidh tent have a tradition of making shortbread for the visitors to try at the Highland Games. It's a great way to make friends! I started giving tins of it to friends and family at Christmas and I'm up to 14 tins per holiday. It takes most of a day baking but well worth it.
