I'd like the opinion of you vets out there

I chose to serve my country by by helping to produce the finest weapons we can provide for our brave soldiers. Currently I'm working on guided artillery.
I recently had the chance to speak with a gunnery sargeant who told me he helped save at least 200 lives by using the weapon system I'm working on. I left that meeting walking 3 ft off the ground. It's a rare event for me to know that the work I do makes a difference.

Lately I've noticed all kinds of threads, new and old, that allow members of the US armed forces to embrace their service and wear tartans celebrating the Marines, Army, Navy, and Air Force. I don't pretend to think that my efforts are equal to the soldiers that face comabt, but nonetheless I'm proud of my work and would like a way to celebrate it. I doubt that there are "Defense Contractor" tartans out there, what would be a good way show my pride for what I do?

    Thanks in advance
    Rich

Speaking for myself as a Marine Corps veteran, I see nothing wrong with a civilian wearing service tartans. As long as you aren't claiming to be something your not, and are up front about why you are wearing your tartan I see anything wrong with it. I recently got a kilt in the Leatherneck tartan and think it is a great tartan. Be proud of what you do, and if you choose to wear a service tartan do it with pride.

As another Marine Corps veteran and still serving, I second Charlie's comments. And thanks for making the most accurate systems in the world!

I am former Army and see no problem with you wearing a service tartan to honor those you support.

Rich, As a Combat Vet Id like to say THANKS for doing what you do to keep our guys safe over there. As far as a Defense Contractor tartan idk but you could maybe try the American Heritage which also says "I'm proud to be American"!

We're all a team. I'm a retired Air Force Officer. Without 'E's and civilian contractors we would never get an aircraft off the ground. Wear it with pride and welcome.

As a Marine Corps vet I second the others who say thanks for your work and go on and wear whatever tartan you want. Just as long as you don't pretend to be a vet yourself you are only honoring our fighting men and women and out country.

    Thanks Guys
Rest assured I would never dishonor our service men by pretending I was one of them. And I am extremely proud of what we do. It's nice to be appreciated.

Check out the link for some video of a new tool in our arsenal.

As a squid, I'm with the jarheads... wear the service tartans with pride and respect, and it's all good.
