Talking I'm going to retire at 36 years of age, WOHOO!!

I received this email yesterday. I just quit my job and am typing this from the back of my limo on the way to the BMW dealership to pick up my new Z4. Then I'm going to buy kilts, lots of kilts. Every tartan known to man. Then I'm going to..........

Subject: THANK YOU AS YOU RESPOND QUICKLY
    My Dear

My name is Mrs. Zuma Williams a 65yrs old lady. I am a cancer patient and a
nationality of South Africa I am married to Mr. Jacob Zuma who worked with
United Kingdom embassy in London for nine years before he
died in an automobile crash in December 1999. We were married for
eleven years without a child. Before his death we were devoted Christians.
When my late husband was alive we protected our assets of $USD5.5 Million
(Five Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars)through the purchase of a life
insurance policy (United Kingdom variable annuities) from a United Kingdom
life insurance company. I was irrevocably designated as beneficiaries of
    the policy. The
purpose of this investment was to safe our principal capital and make use
of accrues income from the annuities for our upkeep since the principal
fund and the accrued interest are exempt from United Kingdom taxes under
United Kingdom law. But unfortunately he died.

Recently, my Doctor told me that I would not last long due to my cancer
problem. Though what disturbs me most is my stroke.I developed this
sickness as a result of the sudden shock and hearth attack I had when the
breaking news came to me on that faithful day that my husband was involved
in an auto crash and died at the spot in the city of Zurich in December
1999. Having known my condition I decided to liquidate these assets and
donate this fund with all the accrued interests to church or better still a
Christian individual that will utilize this money the way I
am going to instruct here in. I want an individual that will use this fund
to churches,Orphanages, Research centers and widows, propagating the word of
God and to ensure that the house of God is maintained. I took this bold
decision because I don't have any child that will inherit
this money and my husband's relatives are of questionable characters and
    are not Christians.
And I don't want my hard earned money to be misused by unbelievers and I
would dislike a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly
manner. Hence the reasons for taking this bold decision.

I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going and everyone is
entitle to death. I know that I am going to be in the bosom of the Lord.
Exodus 14 VS14 says that the lord will fight my case and I shall hold my
peace. I don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of
my health and for the presence of my family relatives around me always. I
don't want them to know about this development. With God all things are
    possible.

I have briefed my attorney about this development, you are therefore advice
to contact him through his email address (barrochaegochambers@yahoo.com).My
attorney will issue you all relevant documents that will enable the trust
company to transfer the fund to you, based on your agreement on the mode of
transfer. I want you and the church to always pray for me. My happiness is
that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Whoever that wants to serve the
Lord must serve him in spirit and truth. Please always be prayerful all
    through your life.
Any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing for other people for
    this same purpose.
I have decided to map out 30% [Thirty Percent] for you to cover all
expenses that may arise during the transaction. Please assure me that you
will act accordingly as I stated here. Expecting to hearing from you.

    Remain Blessed

    Mrs Zuma Williams

I get that one sometimes. I also get the lawyer can't find the next of kin, so if you'll send me money, and then split the money with me I'll get the money to you one as well.

That has got to be one of the oldest things out there I can not believe that people would still be dumb enough to fall for this.

Just remember, there are many people that are neophytes and are only starting to learn to use a computer. Many just don't think when they are using the computer. I deal with issues like this at work everyday. Many only use a computer at work and they are not confronted with alot of the garbage out there on the internet because of corporate safeguards and security measures. Again, the same could be said of many of the younger users that are not as security savy shall we say. It is an on going battle to educate and make people aware of the security risks and the steps they need to take to safeguard themselves when sailing the cyber seas.

Being a Scottish lawyer I get lots of these from so called attorneys or barristers in Nigeria, Lome Togo etc. I always cut and paste the return path and forward it with the offending e-mail to the Police computer fraud alert team.

I've read that there are entire villages in parts of Africa that have made a cottage industry of coming up with these scam emails. I guess there are enough people who fall for these scams to keep the scammers in business.
