Over the last couple of years I have bought a kilt, joined a clan, became a commissioner of said clan and learned a lot about Scotland. Now, I'm completely gone! I'm so eat up with everything Scottish, its crazy. I'm looking at basket hilt broadswords, targes, dirks, custom weaves, Scotch (Laphroaig!) Outlander, Jacobites, Picts, custom sgian dubh, pipe chanter, learn Gaelic CDs..........AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Does it ever end! My wife thinks I've gone mad and I caint help but think she's right. But, I LOVE IT!!!!!! Hahahahahahahahahhaha

Right lad, only one thing to do: save the pennies in a jar for a trip to across the water. You simply must go, you know...you are being called. Another Gathering of the Clans coming in 2014 they say; ask the Mizzus if she'd fancy the trip.

I can only agree - there is absolutely nothing wrong with self enrichment and self enlightenment.
The trouble is the more we enlighten ourselves, the more we lighten our wallets.

Can't take it with you. Might as well get whatever enjoyment there is from it while we can.

Going to be hard to do here. Canada won't be making pennies any more!

All things in moderation, eh?
Hopefully, your initial euphoria will be followed by a period where you put it all in perspective and mellow out. We have had a few members here who seem to have gone overboard about kilt acquisition and Scot-iness so remember that it's a PART of your life and not your WHOLE life....

ANOTHER KILTED LEBOWSKI AND...HEY, CAREFUL, MAN, THERE'S A BEVERAGE HERE!

Pooh! Nobody ever made the history books via moderation.
Seriously, though, it's easy to fall into the 'trap' of going overboard and unintentionally becoming a caricature amongst your friends. It's very good advice to remember that it's part of your life and not your whole life, as auld argonian says. A healthy interest in culture, history, and language is good. Obsession is not. Only you can know where that line is, but if your wife is giving you hints, then perhaps it's time to reevaluate and slow down.

Moderation, whats that? Ha!
Its hard not to get lost in something your passionate about though. Its all so interesting, hard not to pursue it further and further. I guess I need to do like Cameroncat says and just go to Scotland and get it out of my system. Imagiation is always so much better than reality.
Somebody ought to.
