Years ago, when I started wearing the kilt, I never dreamed I would end up making my own apparel, I always thought it to be very difficult and expensive. But since joining these forums I have witnessed some of the members creating some very attractive items.
Lately I have been working with leather and making a few things. There's a Tandy Leather store near me, I bought some tools and leather scraps and made a wallet and a key holder (not from kits) - the tools and leather were all under $50. I'm planning to make my own sporran, sporran strap and kilt belt. I own a pair of boot moccasins and am planning to make some of those too - judging from the pair I bought last year it looks relatively easy.
I know I can make hose flashes, thanks to the tutorial posted by F.H.C.A.G, and I'd like to tackle a kilt someday but I need that book that teaches patienceSo that only leaves a shirt and hose, and I'm betting I could even make a nice leather vest.
Who'd have thought that educating yourself could be this much fun?
