Incredible honour
Tomorrow our local Sri Lankan society is holding a New Year blessing and 'our' priest will be coming down to hold the ceremony. My wife is Sri Lankan BTW.
Afterwards there will be general merry making and food with a few Buddhist recitals.
I've been asked to attend kilted, and our eldest has been chosen to do some English readings. I feel very honoured and rather proud.
And yes, pics will follow.

Well done indeed, Martin.
Sri Lanka (or Ceylon as it was then) was where my parents had their honeymoon, some 60 years ago. I can still remember the stories she told me as a child.
It is the one place, I want to visit if I win the lottery.

Thanks guys.
We actually toured Sri Lanka for 3 weeks for our honeymoon so I could meet some of Imi's family. Already spoke a little of the language and knew the food and really fell in love with the place, especially as those I met were so friendly as I already appreciated the culture.
Hopefully in a few years well be able to go back again. Its one of a few places that despite being new enough to be different and exciting, felt like I belonged there...

Unfortunately he decided in typical preteen grumpiness he didn't want to do it. Probably just as well as we were told the wrong time...
We arrived shortly before the blessing and end of the event. Aside from one 'curious' question mention in another thread about had we just returned from Scotland, I got several good comments including one from a very pretty young lass about how 'gorgeous' I looked, and the priest liked my kilt as well.
Also got very favourable comments about the pol sambul I'd made - spicy grated coconut with chilli and vinegar. I'm now officially 'one of the Sri Lankan crowd'.

Didn't get a chance to take pics in the short time we were there.
