I wanted to share this with all of you. I retired from the U.S. Coast Guard a couple years ago. I had a great career on helicopters flying on rescue missions, but one stands out from all others...
Thanksgiving Day, 1992, I was part of the crew for the medevac of a 17 month old baby girl who was badly burned and had a collapsed lung. It was hard on the entire crew because we all had kids of our own. A couple years ago, I found her on Facebook. Last Saturday, I watched that same girl graduate with honors from Oregon State University. A tearful hug over 20 years in the making felt amazing and it was one of the best days of my life.
Not kilted, but I still fit into my uniform!
