Having worn Redwings in my younger days on survey crews and hunting, I can attest to their durability. Nothing fancy, but a good, solid, comfortable boot.

I received a pair of the Red Wing Brogue Rangers in black from my sister-in-law for Christmas. Worn both with kilt and with suit-and-tie in the city. Works equally well with both looks. They are very comfortable, even new, and are extremely well made. The detailing makes them look like wingtips when you have on pants, which, unfortunately are required in my new job.

I've worn them a couple of times with the kilt. Much better as a boot option for the kilt than my other boots. The brogues really seem to work well kilted and look better than my Dr Martens.

I usually push my hose down and leave the flashes at home when I wear boots. However, I wore my boots at the raining GMHGs last year and that day, I didn't push my hose down and I didn't leave my flashes at home.

At Highland games, I wear Red Wing boots with my hose and flashes, but sometimes I've worn these boots with no flashes and scrunched kilt hose (and with kilt , of course).
