Earlier today at the office, I went down from my desk to the cafe to get something to drink. A lady entered the elevator on the floor below mine, bag in hand, heading out of the building. She saw my kilt, and remarked that she had recently "attended a service for a friend of mine" [which I presume was a funeral service], and that there were a number of men in kilts, including pipers who played for the service. Her comment was that she had found the pipe music very comforting. I expressed condolences for her friend, and that I was glad she was comforted by the music.
Just a very brief conversation; she was apparently heading out for a meeting or appointment, so didn't seem open to further conversation.
It's hard to find just the right words . . . best I can come up with is that I somehow found it encouraging to have reminded her of a source of comfort in her time of loss.
Regards,
Mark
