    Interesting thistle photo

Thought I would share this shot taken by a photographer friend of mine. It was taken in Washington`s North Cascade mountains, but gee, reminds me of Scotland for some reason. My initial thought on seeing it was "say a prayer for Scotland."Click image for larger version.

Great picture @Dughlas_mor! I managed to capture these pictures about a month ago in the field behind where I work.

Thanks @ChuckTN. Those are some nice shots you took as well. My friend is a very dedicated amateur, he told me that was one of the quickest shots he`s ever taken, and as soon as the shutter clicked the butterflies were gone.

Great images! Earlier this summer the thistle were blooming in big patches spread along my favorite walking trail through the woods behind my house

I never bring a camera on walks so sadly the bloom was missed.

I always have one thought when I see thistles... its gotta hurt like heck to fall into that bad boy, ours grow to over 3 feet tall.

I'll add a couple. We get thistles in our front yard or flower bed every couple of years. I let a few grow and bloom. Took these photos last week

A couple from a corner of the acre-sized backyard, where I let the thistles grow wild. Have you ever smelled thistles? Most, to me, smell sweeter than roses. Although, I found some on Vancouver Island that had no noticeable scent.

I think the thistle is pretty. Granted, it does look like something brought back from a Mars rover mission. I took these while on holiday in Scotland a few years back. At work, I showed the second picture to a work colleague. At which time I said "The bumble bees in Scotland are plaid, not striped". She was amazed! I know it isn't that funny, but i thought she was a bit more bright than that.
