Kilt Review forum seems to have gone crazy!
Forgive me for bringing up the topic of another forum, but I wonder how many of you guys also visit kiltreview.com. I was just there, on my daily visit, when I was shocked to see the forum owner/moderator having posted a vicious screed against homosexuals, or "Sodomites" as he called them. He claims that they have taken over this (X Marks the Scot) forum and are misusing the kilt to further their own "perverted" ways!
Well, to say I was shaken, is putting it mildly. I am sorry to see our "community" struck by such a blatant and divisive issue, which has nothing to do with wearing a kilt, Scotish heritage, etc. It's so "off topic" as to be laughable, if it were not so sad.
I have been so gratified to see over the past weeks, as I have visited the various forums about kilted life, the lack of "flames" that one usually run across on other forums. We have kept topics of religion, politics and sexual orientation (for the most part) out of the picture and focused on the mutual support of kilted guys--and a few lasses
Maybe those who have been around longer were not surprized that this matter would have come up and perhaps not surprised that it came through that forum. I hope we will all sit back and take a deep breath and keep focused to what we are here for.
Remember being a gentlemen has a lot more to do with how a guy treats his fellow man than what he wears below his waist or with whom he sleeps.
Happy St. Patrick's Day

I still visit kilt review from time to time, but the moderation there has really turned me off at times.
A few weeks ago, David E posted a "fear inducing" post that Bear kilts was now out of business. His rational was that since emails and phone messages were not being returned promptly and Bear had switched locations, that that meant his business was finished. Both Raphael and I responded to this. Raphael was deleted as a member, and the post was deleted completely. I don't see the reasoning there at all.
This was not the first case i have heard of this. Bear was actually deleted and banned based on religious comments he made on a different forum!
People have said that Xmarks is run with a heavy hand, but Kilt Review takes the cake. David E is not only running a dictorship over there, but he censors everything based on his own personal views.
Alot of the kilt information there seems to be from the "walmart" crowd. By this I mean they have a disdain for traditional kilt garb because it is a bit pricey. Therefore the cheap alternatives are king there.
I completely expect to have my membership there deleted after this post, but that is not a real concern to me. Doc Hudson and JohnAllen...oops, I mean David E can have there fun over there all by themselves.
Xmarks is my online community and my source for kilt information. I don't go to Tom's cafe, so why should I continue to go the the other end of the spectrum.

I never knew that site existed! What a sick sob! Maybe he should change the name to UltraConservativeChristianBigotsWhoWearKilts.Sik
He said he was a member here and left. Well thanks for leaving and doing us all a favor. It is a shame that some people cannot see beyond their blindness and realize that we are all G_ds creatures.
And thank you Hank for having a forum that is open to all for discussion.
Oh yes, Happy St. Pat's Day

I just left my response to that thread. It was my first and last post on that forum, although I'd signed up as a member some time ago. I expect my membership there to be revoked at any time.

This post was originally moved to the sick ward for review by the mods. I am posting it back in the off-topic section and closing it, but I did want the public to see it. kiltreview was started by someone who was mad at me for banning members and "over-moderating." Wow!
"All who are interested in kilts are welcome to register here even if you do not wear them."
That is on their front page. Hmmm...
Edit: The offending post was removed from their website BTW. Guess their convictions arent that strong after all.

I thought this was funny also [from kiltreview.com]...
I had to ask my self several times if this board was necessary because there are several Kilt boards around.
I came up with a few reasons for this board some are below but not all.
1.) There are other boards that contain much but not all of what we are offering.
2.) We are all different. The personality of this board will be different than the others because the operators are different. I am sure many will participte in several boards and we certainly welcome members who come from other places.
3.)We encourge members to get to know each other but caution you all that anyone on the internet can read what you post here if they join unless the forum you are posting in is private, in which case they cannot even see it.
4.) Moderating: I am not going to moderate this place with a heavy hand, If you post it, I very likely will leave it there unless you are abusive to someone or are way off topic. I will move posts at my discretion to a different forum if you inadvertantly post it in the wrong one, but I probably will not delete it. Please try to post things where they belong. If you want a post deleted and you are not able to, or moved, send me a PM and I will delete any post of yours that you ask to be deleted or move it to the place you want if it belongs there, It's your post not mine. If you put something in a message that the moderators do not believe should be a part of this board, you will be asked to edit your message to remove it. If you do not comply, the whole message will be deleted.
5.) Discussions of political topics is not permitted..
6.) Discussions of religious or spiritual concerns are permitted in the in the "Christians & Kilts & Other Spiritual Concerns" forum only and you must ask to be granted access. If you have concerns regarding wearing "MUGS" and you want to discuss it with others from a biblical perspective, the "Christians & Kilts & Other Spiritual Concerns" forum is there for that purpose. There will be NO religous discussions in any other forum. If you have questions concerning this please feel free to write a private message or send an email to KiltReview@gmail.com
We have no desire to replace any other forum, but I am aware that there are some men (and women) who have not been comfortable on other sites for various reasons. I don't like personality wars. We are all different and I understand that. So.... If you have been uncomfortable on other boards, try us.
Thank you for looking in and I hope you find Kilt Review an imformative resource and a pleasant experience.
I would be glad to have any of you reply to this post by Private Message or Email, and as always feel free to make suggestions.
