    Last WWI Vet dies.

"Claude Choules, the last surviving combat veteran of World War I, died on Thursday in Perth, Australia. The British-born sailor, who lied about his age to enlist at just 14 and served for many years in the Royal Australian Navy, was also the only living veteran of both World Wars."

This link to the news story popped up on my facebook page a while ago.

Charles first served in the Royal Navy at age 14, during WWI, and was present when the German Navy scuttled their ships at the end of the War at Scarpa Flow. A man that gave more than enough to his two countries.

Sad to hear that one of our last links to the First World War has left this earth. It truly is the end of an era.

RIP Claude, I'm sure that your shipmates who preceeded you are waiting with full mugs. int:

Let us not mourn the passing of this man, rather, let us each rejoice that men such as this lived in the first place.

RIP Mr.Choules. You will be remembered. I will have to pass word on to my fellow WW1 reenactors this weekend, we will have to hold a service for him.
