Literacy and erudition
I just got done reading most of another thread that I've been following...
...and I don't want to give you the impression that I'm kissing up by saying this...
...but I am always impressed by the level of literacy, erudition and the respect for good, fair and well reasoned discourse that the members of this forum display. Really...I don't see that much of this in the "outside world" but I am always impressed by the spirit of collegiality that exists here. I've seen several threads that have wandered off topic...but in such a constructive way...I'm happy that the participants seem to be rolling with it and the mods have let them progress in the organic sort of way that they do.
I've heard that things can get way out of hand in other forums but there seems to be enough restraint exercised here that it all stays on a reasonably constructive course.
Just my way of saying that I'm grateful to all of you who take the time to participate...makes this one of those good places to go when you need to be reassured that there are reasonable, well intentioned and intelligent people in the world.
All right...back the the cynicism and sarcasm...
Best

I agree most completely. Xmarks is a wonderful resource filled with friendly and knowledgeable experts and enthusiasts, and what's more is a site where blood is hardly ever shed.

I've noticed that too, it is a breath of fresh air. I would like to echo your comments AA, and say that I am extremely grateful as well.
Here's to you!

I belong to a paintball forum that is similar to this one with the level of respect and restraint. Yes, we do poke some fun at one another but should someone join up and present a persona that we have come to view as intolerable, they are quietly asked once to straighten up. Continueing with being an immature individual, they are given the boot. The forum moderators and owner gently but firmly enforce the rules.
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.

I agree as well and hand the kudos not only to the membership who communicate within the bounds of civility, but to the team of excellent moderators who work compassionately to keep us on track. I know that their communications with me regarding uncertain meanings have been cordial and supportive at all times.

I work afternoon shift, so when I get home late at night I go on the computer, so as to not disturb the rest of the house. There are several forums that I am on, and only one other has had the same atmosphere as this. Sadly, it has slowly changed over the last year due to ownership changes and a craving for "new blood" due to an exodus when ownership changed.
I am quite content to come here for my daily dose of civility. Thanks, everyone!
I wish I believed in reincarnation. Where's Charles Martel when you need him?

Well put AA. I agree wholeheartedly.
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

As do I. This has now become a virtual "place" where I drop in several times a day to see what's going on.

I'm killed in the war or hung during peace."
