Looking for Book on Sterling Price's Expedition

    Xmarks Historians,

I am looking for a good book on Sterling Price's Expedition in the summer/fall of 1864. I am studying an ancestor that was captured in Newton County, MO in October of 1864. He was in the Arkansas 5th Cavalry CSA (also known as the 8th and 2nd).

I found this book on Amazon but if there is a definitive reference I would prefer to read that.

I seem to remember several Xmarks historians living in or familiar with Northern Arkansas and Southern Missouri so I am hoping for some insight.

    Thanks

McElmurry, I think you have an interesting topic, since I claim Sterling Price as an ancestor.

Ironically I just purchased this title for our college library on Monday:

Given the Newton County connection, you might try this title:

I give a presentation from time-to-time on the 14th Iowa Infantry at the Battle of Ft. Davidson, Missouri during Price's Raid.
