Looking for motorcycle riding glasses
Hey rabble,
My topic title says it all, really. I'm looking for recommendations for good nighttime riding glasses. This is what I'm after, in order of importance.
- clear (I don't buy into the yellow lens philosophy)
- anti-glare (the cheapie lenses I use now cause starbursts when headlights shine on them)
- windproof (with a solid nose bridge, and wrap-around design)
- safety lenses (that won't shatter)
- UV protected (A&B)
- Price (less than $500, please)
Any ideas?

I don't ride, but I've considered several of these for hunting and shooting, based on friends reviews. More for eye safety rather than appearance or fashion.

I wear these Sushi, and have for many years.

I get them in prescription with transition lenses so I can go from day to night, or outdoors to indoors, without having to stop and change glasses. You can get them with polycarbonate lenses, if you like, which are super high impact resistant (like most shooting glasses) but I have never needed to pay that extra for bug protection, and I do a lot of freeway riding where high speed bug impacts are common.
I'm sure your local eye wear shop can hook you up. If you don't need them to be prescription, just go with the non Rx transitions with scratch coating and you should be good to go! The frames with regular lenses are listed here for $115. If you go the transition route with scratch coating etc they would likely be another $60 or so here in the States. Mine are about $200 US with the RX.
Hope that helps.

Re: Looking for motorcycle riding glasses
Sushi,
Because I wear glasses, I use these. However, they would be fine on their own and are very comfortable, not to mention inexpensive. No fogging and the smoked/clear lenses exchange in about 10 seconds. Best of both worlds and are perfect for day or night use.

Not to be a downer but meybe just wear a helmet? I know some folks who had their lives saved (barely) by their DOT full face coverage helmets. Just my two cents, take it or leave it.

The star burst pattern is caused because the glasses are polarized. I use the cheaper safety glasses that are not polarized so I don't have that vision problem.

That's a bit odd, isn't it? You would think that lens polarization would do exactly the opposite.
