Loss of a friend

Yesterday I had to bury part of my family. Our 9 year old Neapolitan Mastiff passed away.



She was a very loving dog, and really loved kids.



My 15 year old Daughter is on a trip to the west coast with her class and doesn't know yet. She is going to be heartbroken when she gets back, but we chose not to tell her until she returns so we don't ruin her trip.

Loosing an animal that has become a part of your family is tough, especially if you have no children. Good decision on waiting to tell your daughter, she might be mad for a little bit, but she will understand one day.

I have shed many a tear over dogs and horses that have held special places in my life.

Given her breed and age, I am sure that she lived life to the fullest with the love you all shared. I can relate and wish you all some comfort in your loss.

Its always sad when a pet dies but all we can do is hope the beast didnt suffer. You tell your daughter her Dog will always be grateful for providing it with a home and some love.

We lost our cat for 18 years last year and I know how you must feel. It was ruff at first but as is often quoted Time Heals all wounds. Our cat was in great pain in the end so she is in a better place.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Pets become a part of the family so fast and it's tough to say goodbye. Nine years with your friend should provide you with a lot of fine memories.
