Missed a chance to meet President Obama
I took a week off from work to do some much needed work on my home, and found out when I went back to work that President Obama, came to my office to thank us for all the work we did on the Times Square Bomb Threat.
Oh well maybe next time.

That's a shame, Keith. Timing, as they say, is everything. I do hope you get that next time, but I hope it's not because of another terrorist attempt.
Regards,
Brian

Bummer, I heard he was kilted for the occasion....

The only UK politician I've seen up close was Tony Benn, many years ago. There's a bus stop on the corner near the House of Commons, and I was standing there waiting for a bus when he walked past in the street, perhaps three feet away from me.
I have been passed by the Queen while stopped in traffic, though. I could clearly see her in her car as it drove around the roundabout near St. Thomas' hospital, just across the river from the House of Commons, while my motorcycle was stopped at the head of the traffic coming onto the roundabout.
I've actually met Prince Phillip and exchanged a few words, albeit our conversation wasn't exactly profound.
Here in Washington DC there are lots of convoys of secret service cars, but you can't actually see who is inside past the tinted windows, so President Obama could go right past me (and probably has) but you can't tell who it is.

It can be amazing what you can miss out on when you are not there or not looking!

My son Lincoln didn't miss his opportunity! Here he is shaking hands with the Prez the other day at the White House:

He was there on a trip with his high school political science club. One of the White House staffers went to our high school, so the group had an exclusive "in" that day....

That's cool... I don't know if I'd want to be a head of state though. Just think of all the hand shaking they do... I think by the end of the day my hand would be all shook out. I bet it gets annoying after a while.

That's really cool, Brian - the boy looks like you. That's a picture he'll treasure the rest of his life, I'm sure.

Oh, yeah! It's framed and up in his room already. Even his conservative Republican dad thinks it's cool! How often does one get to meet the POTUS...?
