Motorcyclists
Now I've seen at least four guys on this site are riders. I'm not, but I've got an appreciation for a good bike, honed by a neighbor in high school that collected 1950's-vintage BMW's and Moto Guzzi's (Italian bikes).
OK, so bikers, chime in...What do you ride? Do you ride kilted? Got Pics?

I was thinking of starting a motorcycle thread this morning after seeing the R65, but all I did was think of it. Thanks Alan, for starting it.
I just sold my '91 K100RS. Currently I own a 1975 R90/6. I was a BMW tech for 5 years and I wanted something to tinker with. The K bike just ran and used tires.

I have a couple. This BMW R1150RT is in storage until next summer when I finish school and get back to working.
But I found that I hated not having a bike, and bought this 2005 Yamaha Majesty for commuting. While the step-through design means that I could ride it kilted, I do not. ATTGATT: All the gear, all the time.

Well, I've been in & out of the motorcycle industry for over 30 years, so:

1980 H-D FLT- with my dog Speckles riding on the tank! Sorry about the picture quality; this is a scan of a Polaroid!

1998 Triumph Trident 900

1982 BMW R65 with hack
Buried in the basement:
1979 Yamaha XS1100SF
1972 BSA B25
1971 BSA A65L
1968 BSA A65FS
1967 BSA A65L- big-bore: 930cc@14:1, Chenowth frame, Amal GPs jetted for alcohol, total-loss ignition, push-start (rollers, actually)- my dirt-drags special!
1967 BSA A65L- hardtail, H-D 45 springer extended 6" over with Ford radius rods, etc.- full-on 70's chopper
1966 BSA A65T
1966 BSA B44
1966 BSA D7
1964 BSA A65C
1958-62? BSA A10 flat-track racer
1956 BSA A10
1955 BSA A7
1953 BSA A10
1942 BSA M20
enough extra BSA A10 & A65 engines, frames, etc. to build about 4 Bitsas
a Harley project- Shovel engine, Pan tranny, Duo-Glide front end, fat fenders and tanks- probably going to end up a bare-bones bobber
and I currently have my eye on a Vetter Terraplane (a sidecar), which will probably end up on the Yamaha!

My current ride (and probably my favorite), is a 2001 Honda Blackbird. She's been a good, dependable ride for fun and distance (I did my SS1000 on the 'bird in may of 2002)-I just wish it didn't have such an appetite for rear tires!

And a pic of my bike behind my wife Tracy's Ducati 900SSCR:

Bryan...thinking about putting a KTM EXC in the garage next to the 'bird...

Currently a 2000 Honda Goldwing GL1500SE. I need/want a scooter and a KLR650 and Heritage Softtail and R1150RT. Yup if I had five bikes I would get bigger discount on insurance and thats my only reason for wanting more of those beautiful sexy machines, errr economical transportation vehicles.
some bike pics, sorry no umbrella girls

Wow, I see a lot of common threads in these posts! So Randy, did you ever document the BB1500 you mention on your page? I noticed I'd set a 15.5 hour pace on my SS1000, but don't know if I could've maintained it to get my BB1500 Gold (I certainly wouldn't have done it on the route I chose for the 1000 miles!). Robert (Canuck), I've got a very large soft spot for bikes like your Madura: the two bikes I had before the Blackbird were V65 Magnas, a sort of Honda "cousin" to your ride.
I see a nice broad cross section of makes and manufacturers, although I only see one person who borders on the masochistic: Smaughazard! Fourteen Beezers?!? you must spin a phenominal wrench! I envy you the space and time to revel in the mechanical history, though.
Bryan...ride safe, XMarkers...

The Madura is a sleeper...very fast bike ....close to maintanance free. It was ahead of it's time. Some say a rather ugly bike but it's coming into it's own now. This site got me over to buying this one. http://www.lk3000.com/madura/
I was more in the market for a Honda ST1100 but didn't have the funds. I'd go for a beemer but the insurance for these bikes is rather high. In Ontario I pay $550 per year basic coverage. I've been liicensed for 35 years and clean record. I hear folks in the States paying under $100 per year...it's all relative.
That Blackbird is a nice bike good throaty growl to it is well.
Very nice rides fellows...keep your eyes open for the escape and ride safely.
Cheers
Robert
