My birthday present from Bob
Bob suggested a day in Del Mar, shopping for a piece of jewelry, nice lunch, romantic dinner. Not this year, I said -- instead, I asked him to rebuild the cracked/falling brick planter in back yard, so I could replant it. He had already removed the straggly roses so it was just old, bare dirt. Over the last week or so it has gone from this. . .

to this!!

Bob slaved over the brickwork, I did all the soil prep and planting. We are both tired and sore but more than pleased with the results.
But next year, you can bet I'll say "Del Mar sounds wonderful, darling!"

Ah but that planter will be beautiful year after year and you will both joke about it and smile.
What a great gift!
Cheers

Happy birthday, and congratulations on the new planter.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
