My little guy started preschool this week.

Yep. My 4 year old son started preschool on Monday. He goes three days a week, Mon - Wed. He knows his ABC's and can count pretty high already. He can write his name and knows his phone number (which impressed some other parents of kids in his class)

I'm pretty sure he's the smartest in his class.

Before anyone asks: No. He wasn't kilted.

Mine started so long ago that's hard to remember. Just found out that my little one is expecting a little one of his own. Wow how time flies.

Green Dragon, That is great! Let's see, 4 years old, can say his ABC's, count high, write his name and knows his home phone number. I'd agree he is the smartest in his class. I have friends who at 60 years cannot remember their phone number

Always a day of mixed emotions I feel. You are proud of the child and happy at their development but its also the day that you stop being the most important thing in their little lives. Soon all you will here is Johny says this Murdo says that and you will be embarrassing.

Enjoy the early years while you have them.

My grandbaby started school a few weeks ago and made me think about taking my daughter to her first day......cherish the moment.. They grow up fast..my little girl is 28 now.. It seems like yesterday she begged me not to leave her there...lol

My 3 1/2 year old started pre-k this week also. But she goes all day every day. I already miss having her around. I work at night so i am home during the day.

Oh--I'm right there too, my daughter started this year as well. Such a bittersweet experience as a parent, isn't it? Your son sounds like a darling little boy

Preschool didn't do much to me, emotionally, but like 99% of parents, the first day of Kindergarten for both of the boys was rough on me and Mom both.

I think they were both about 11 the first time I got so mad at them, I counted the number of days until they went away to college.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!
