    My WiFi has been hacked...

... but I was lucky enough to have noticed it as it happened...

As a result of this I've cut down my access to the internet.
I've been reading some posts on my ereader, but this site in B/W and having to zoom in with a 5'' screen.... Not as enjoyable....

Getting a new provider with better protection and a new WiFi on the 29th.

Until then, please cut down the posting as I have close to 3.500 post to catch on to.....

    Just kiding...

    Have fun while I'm out . . .

Re: My WiFi has been hacked...

    Brutal! :-( WPA?

FWIW, hackers are the scum of the earth! My iTunes account was hacked in January (through a back door -- not a weak password) and they stole $40 in gift cards using my Paypal... Took WEEKS to sort it all out between Paypal and Apple. And of course in the mean time, Apple locked my account no less than 3 times, making me contact customer service to unlock it each time. Finally, after a bit of research I found that it was likely the fact that my e-mail address was undergoing hack attempts and after a few unsuccessful attempts, I would get locked out. So I changed my iTunes username/email addy, and so far so good for the time being....

But for the record, hackers should be punished and punished WELL! Being forced to live for 10 years with the Amish should do it!

I am not sure if a new provider would necessarily provide better protection, but don't have all the details. If you are using a DSL connection but your own personal router, you could try making sure you have a solid router. Don't advertise the SSID, insure you are using WPA2 , make sure your password is a good secure password a long password that is truly random (make sure you have a copy in a safe place). If you get really paranoid you could use MAC address filtering which only allows access from specific Network Interface Cards. I also like to use a VPN , although this may not be directly related to the WiFi hacking, and recommend WiTopia www.witopia.net

Well, I'm back online, but strangely enough, I can surf on the net, but I cannot download anything at all... I'll have to reinstall W7 on my computer again. Sucks.....

Now I'm off to read the 35 million posts I missed...
