In need of spiritual resource, help!
I need some help finding a design, or poem, or prayer. I have many many tattoos. Most of them are lyrics and bits of poetry, things that remind me of what's important in life. I'm looking for something specific right now. I'm looking for some sort of prayer or design who's intended purpose is to protect one from harm. If anyone can throw out some suggestions I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks!

The cross is the current favorite as far as protecting one from harm. At least it is suppose to work against vampires and other demonic forces. It depends on what you are seeking protection from. Different Patron Saints are suppose to provide protection from different dangers. For example Saint Barbara is the Patron Saint of Artillerist and people who handle explosives. She will also protect you from lightering. Other cultures have different dieties for the same purpose. Pick your protector.

I'm not sure it'll help, but you could try reading through these two Psalms and seeing if there are any phrases, or sentences, that jump out at you.
The third Psalm:
O Lord, why are they multiplied that afflict me? Many rise up against me. Many say unto my soul: There is no salvation for him in his God. But Thou, O Lord, art my helper, my glory, and the lifter up of my head. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and He heard me out of His holy mountain. I laid me down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord will help me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that set themselves against me round about. Arise, O Lord, save me, O my God, for Thou hast smitten all who without cause are mine enemies; the teeth of sinners hast Thou broken. Salvation is of the Lord, and Thy blessing is upon Thy people.
The Twenty-Sixth Psalm (Twenty-Seventh in most English Bibles - it's a long story!)
The Lord is my light and my saviour; whom then shall I fear? The Lord is the defender of my life; of whom then shall I be afraid? When the wicked draw nigh against me to eat my flesh, they that afflict me and are mine enemies, they themselves became weak and they fell. Though a host should array itself against me, my heart shall not be afraid; though war should rise up against me, in this have I hoped. One thing have I asked of the Lord, this will I seek after: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, that I may behold the delight of the Lord, and that I may visit His holy temple. For He hid me in His tabernacle in the day of my troubles, He sheltered me in the secret place of His tabernacle, upon a rock hath He exalted me. And now, behold, He exalted my head above mine enemies. I went round about and I sacrificed in His tabernacle a sacrifice of praise and jubilation; I will sing and I will chant unto the Lord. Hearken, O Lord, unto my voice, wherewith I cried; have mercy on me, and hearken unto me. My heart said unto Thee: I will seek the Lord. My face hath sought after Thee; Thy face, O Lord, will I seek. Turn not Thy face from me and turn not away in wrath from Thy servant. Be Thou my helper; cast me not utterly away, and forsake me not, O God my Saviour. For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord hath taken me to Himself. Set me a law, O Lord, in Thy way, and lead me in the right path because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the souls of them that afflict me, for unjust witnesses are risen up against me, and injustice hath lied to itself. I believe that I shall see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be thou manful, and let thy heart be strengthened, and wait on the Lord.

Nicholas of Myra (known today as Santa Claus) is a Patron Saint of Travelers particularly sailors. Then there is Saint Christopher, who is well respected as a long time protector of travelers

Kwan Yin, Yemanji, the list goes on and on. Pick your religion. A piece of wood from a tree struck by lightening will provide protection......If you're Cherokee. So will a rabbits foot or three leaf clover. You just have to believe.

Thanks for your help guys. One of my cousins was killed in an accident over the weekend. His brother and I are going to get a matching tattoo together this weekend. Because of my job I spend a lot of my time on the road, so I'm trying to get something appropriate. I don't consider myself to be religious, but spiritual. All of my tattoos say something important about what I believe. Many cultures believe that words gain power when in contact with our bodies. Do I believe that words are going to protect me from harm? Not really. But it never hurts right?
