no more posting/ reading from work :(
I am not a computer guy by any means so a little help from the computer guys may explain this better but we where hit by a probing scan or something like that and something that put a trojan virus in our system and someone tried to hack into our system. Not a smart thing to do to a Navy base that being a federal offense and all.
So we are shut down to the outside world for awhile I am not sure for how long but I know my days when not training will be boring no internet no email from outside the network and no xmarks

Can't hack a mac, that's another reason why NASA uses them.
Actually, most IT people figure the system is safest when it can't be used.
Years ago, I did a probing hack on the DND and the Pentagon. Can't remember which one I got into, but the other one responded within a moment with a script that said "Hello "user", on computer "number" in building "name", room number "xx". I shut down and left the building. (I learned to hack on other people logging into public computers and leaving them while still logged on.)
My point is that was ten years ago. Most router software can detect, block and track probes. If they shut down a whole intranet for more than an hour because of a probe then they probably screwed something up when they forced the shut down.
A probe and a virus event are two different things.
Oh well, hope it's up and running soon.

Well you can hack a Mac, but people rarely write viruses for them.

bad luck, that. But of course, if it's an international hacker, then they definitely wouldn't be discouraged by it being a federal offence. Especially if they were located in a big country west of Japan that starts with C and ends with Hina. Not that there have been any reports of that happening...

That's just utter BS. Apple is no more stable than a PC. The reason that it escapes from virus and attacks is numbers. Most of the bad guys want to get the most effect for their attacks, so the target the PC, because there are more of them.
I have both platforms, and each has it's individual strong points. NASA uses both PC and some few Apples. Very, very few government agencies use Apple.
Please do research before posting these lies.
