Not Kilts in the Media
If the mods consider this off topic, please delete it or move it elsewhere.
You understand the concept of Flash Mobs, where a group of musicians or dancers appear from nowhere in an unusual setting, do their thing and then melt away. I came across this short clip in an IT technical newsletter, "Windows Secrets", that I thought the pipers among us might like.
Sadly, not a kilt in sight, although most belong to pipe bands.

I've never heard that tune, but I liked it (to be honest I haven't heard nearly enough bagpipe songs yet). Fun stuff.

Several years ago the University of Denver Lamont School of Music dedicated their new building, and had the street they were on blocked off. I was wondering what sort of music they would showcase. It was a local pipe band playing the same Highland Cathedral marching from a low spot in the street, but not nearly as neat as this. Thank you.

Highland Cathedral is a nice tune (written in the 1980's by a couple of German composers). It would have been nicer hearing some harmonies after the second time around. Pretty cool concept, though.
There was a post a while back (2012/2013?) of the Pacific Coast/Gold Coast Pipe Bands doing a similar pipe band flash mob during the Christmas holiday season at a mall in California.

This needs to happen more frequently in my humble opinion. I love Highland Cathedral. Another nice selection would be The Gael.

There's quite a few pipe band flash mobs on youtube. The best on, in my opinion, is the one which brings the square outside Köln cathedral to a standstill then they march off down the street. They're not the best rehearsed pipe band in the world - even I can tell that - but they do know how to put on a show. By the reaction of the crowd you can tell they really made everybody's day.

That's a cool video ! Thanks for sharing .
I would love to see a Flash Mob do Black Bear ! Start with a lone piper at a slow tempo then have the tune go full speed as everyone else joins the mob .... and include the drummers shout !
