    Online Scots RC

    Ok. So here's my thoughts.

Several of us ride. Who among you would be interested in a Scottish Motorcycle Riding Club? Not an MC. No three piece patch. No Probates. Free to join, just buy the patch (I have a pretty cool idea for that, hehe). It's an icebreaker to meet others, maybe even get a group started local to you.

Riding as part of something bigger, showing pride in your heritage and Clan. Meetups at bike rallies. And a way to fill that big honkin empty spot between the shoulders of your vest or jacket.

    Thoughts, interests, ideas.... I'm open.

I think 'twould be great fun. I've always wanted to set up a Celtic Cruisers (or maybe Keltic Kruisers) motorcyle or riding club of some sort. Unfortunately, I'm pretty low on organizational abilities so it most likely won't happen from me...

Is everyone here clear on the difference, and it's a BIG one, between a Motorcycle Riding Club and a Motorcycle Club?

Don't be afraid to speak up. Knowing will save you from getting a "percussive education" elsewhere.

Also, I'll be putting up patch ideas and name ideas for general consideration. I work two full time jobs (I consider myself pretty lucky) so it'll get done, just bear win me. If there's interest and agreement between us, we'll be hanging a patch before the long.

I do know, and most of those who will join likely will too... But you may want to go ahead and give a short 411 to educate the general rabble about the difference, just so no one who's been watching Sons of Anarchy a little too long (good show by the way) thinks that we're endorsing the foundation of an outlaw club on an otherwise respectable forum.

    Re: Online Scots RC

    Good call!

Ok, we'll start at the basics.
A Riding Club is as simple as the name says. Its a group of like minded folks who belong to a club with common interests. Yes, you wear a patch on your back if you choose. You don't have to, but if you joined the club why not wear the patch? It's kind of informal, loosely knit and generally pretty casual.
It's not a criminal conspiracy. It's not a pack of thugs and gangsters. It's a social club, in this case a social club for folks who wear tartan and ride a motorcycle. That's all. Nothing more. This isn't a liscence to raise heck and cause mischief. If you're looking for something more tightly knit, more exclusive then find a MC. Been there, done that, got out and I'm not going back.
There are outward similarities that could cause the unschooled to confuse a RC with a MC. There are also certain customs of the MC world you'll need to know, but we'll get there.
For now, I'd like to see a couple prosective names thrown out there. Those of us interested will vote and once we have a name I'll set up a social group here on the forum where we can get into lingo, customs, and start hashing out the RC Charter.
Sorry if I'm rambling a bit... I'm at job #2 and have had about 3.5 hour of sleep in the last 48 or so.

I'll throw out the first name idea...... Thistle Backs.... pics of my concept for a vest (not a "cut") will follow in the next couple days.
