passing of Margaret Thatcher
Margaret Thatcher, former PM of the UK, died this morning. Regardless of whether one agreed with her politics, there was no question about where she stood on an issue. May she rest in peace.

We on this side of the pond will miss the Iron Lady. I personally always hoped she would run for office again. American had no better friend.

Let us be mindful of rule #5 . A woman that divided a nation. Let the history books speak about her but let her soul rest in peace.

My condolences to her loved ones but let's keep the politics at the door.

I was in the Falklands in '82. I have a scar on my left forearm where the splatter from a ricocheting bullet landed on it. Later an Argentinian bullet passed through my hair. An inch lower and it would have gone through my forehead. I almost lost my life twice that day.
Not then, nor in the intervening years, nor now, have I ever wished her ill. It is always easy to blame the person at the top, but it is the person in the local community who is implementing the decisions.
Finally at peace
Regards
Chas

Good grief! Can we have a thread simply expressing condolences out of respect for a deceased person without someone hijacking it in order to inflict their opinions on others?

Her handbagging of the European Union, and that wonderful 'Don't go all wobbly on me now George' - to G W Bush, do rather set her apart from the usual run of grey men in grey suits.
I am sure that for generations to come the Thatcher Era will be studied with interest, and debated with some intensity whenever British politics are discussed.
