Week seven was over Friday and we had a three day weekend and many of us left the base for home or other destinations. I drove up to Fenton, MO to run a ten mile race Sat. morning and I finished ninth in my age group and 37th overall with a respectable finish time of 1:25:11. After the race I explored Fenton and checked into the Drury Inn & Suites and took a long hot bath to sooth my sore muscles. The next morning I drove into Saint Louis and explored the City Museum, a very eclectic and fun museum.
We did DUI and Drugged driver field sobriety tests with the help of these special goggles that made the user feel as though they were drunk. As soon as I put on my goggles my vision was blurred and my balance was severely affected.
We also had a class where we had to respond to an individual in a park and this was part of our class on dealing with edged weapons. One by one the class went outside only to be stabbed or slashed at with a stun knife that delivered a jolt of electricity. I managed to get cut on the top of my right wrist.
We also had a good class on “Active Shooters” and then had various formations and drills that we would latter use when we had to respond to simulated calls in the mock town while we carried Simunition rounds in our weapons.
