A prayer for chaplains
I received this in my E Mail some time ago. I'm a minister and it has a lot of meaning to me. I have a copy of it hanging by my desk as well.
After reading OzMan1944s post I've decided to post it in hopes someone can benefit from it.
A PRAYER FOR CHAPLAINS
O Holy One,
When disaster strikes by air, land or sea
Strengthen me.
When shock numbs, stuns, or overcomes me
Hold me.
When the flames of anger threaten me
Calm me.
When retaliation seems my only choice
Speak to me of grace.
When I would be god to save all
Humble me.
Creator of the air, land and sea:
Strengthen me, that I may calm others.
Ground me, that I may be peace for others.
Empower me, that I may act where I am.
Humble me, that I may know my need
Is always, always to live in You.
Amen..

Interesting take on the Prayer of St Francis. One little project I keep meaning to embark on is a book of fun Graces for meals - especially ones that are easy to keep in my mind for those ad hoc "Oh, Graham, you will say Grace, won't you?!"
All the best
Graham.
