Prayers etc please
I just got a call from my Dad that Mom is being taken into the emergency room again.
Last Thur morning I got a call at 1:30 AM that she was in the hospital with pneumonia and that it was affecting her heart. Found out later on Thur that it might not be that and ended up meeting Dad and the cardiologist at the hospital in Boulder on Fri morning. Everything seemed to be OK. Her Dr at home wanted her to get a pacemaker since it was a mild episode of congestion in her lungs not pneumonia. The cardiologist indicated that there wasn't that much wrong and that we had time to make a decision. Her Dr. was livid when she got home on Fri without having one.
Well, I am now leaning to Mom's Dr having the right of it. Dad's call was that she wasn't breathing well, having issues getting her breath and, apparently, some other problems. He didn't have long to talk since the EMTs were there right then and ready to leave.
This is an entirely different issue from almost 2 years ago. Her pancreatitus and Alzheimers do compicate the situation and decision making.
I'm not feeling much in the holiday mood this year and this is just the tip of the iceburg. First Joyce with shingles in early Nov and not getting over it well with the ongoing nerve issues, and now this. If I had know more about why her Dr wanted it done I would have made sure that was the decision. Now I have to decide if I just give up and head up there or wait for a call from Dad.
Any good wishes, prayers, smoke or whatever will be appreciated.

CHF in the context of Alzheimers is going to be hard one.
Do you limit her salt and try to keep her heart ticking as long as possible, or do you let her enjoy what she enjoys knowing her time is short?
One of the ultimate rock/ hard place questions.
I have no idea what your mom wants. You, your siblings and your dad might be able to reach a concensus.
I will pray for each of you in the situation to find peace in a joint decision that honors your mother.
