    Probably something went wrong with an illicit pot-still....10 to 1 P1M caused it...the Station Hotel is very close to the Ferintosh brewery...err....guesthouse:rolleyes:

    Slept right through it here. The centre of what little seismic activity Britain does experience seems to be somewhere between here and Dumfries. The only quake which was strong enough for me to be aware of it was almost thirty years ago. It was in the early hours of the morning, just after Christmas, would have been December 26th or 27th, 1978 or 1979, and it woke me up as far away as Paisley where I lived at the time. The epicentre was around the Langholm area, which is about midway between here and Dumfries and if I recall correctly it actually scored a 5 on the scale at Eskdalemuir observatory.
