Rainbow Bridge - again
I'm not going to quote the poem here as I'll break down (just do a search) but I need to get this out.
My beloved pet of nearly 15 years has passed on.
Beau, my Russian Blue / Grey Tabby mix stayed home while we came to Canada for Christmas. Beau was diabetic but with diet and medication was doing quite well for a cat of 15. A family member (who has done this many times before) was taking care of him while we're away.
On Saturday there was a horrid accident with Beau's medication and he had to be put to sleep Sunday morning. We weren't even able to be there to say good-bye. That cat and I predate my marriage and we've been through thick and thin together. I am beside myself.
I'm going through anger, guilt and denial (I'm REALLY good at the last one) but tomorrow we start the trip home to the states and Saturday will arrive to an empty house.
I knew this day would come but I was not expecting it this way.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Dee,
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.
Even when our Toni is away for a couple of days while we are getting ready for a trip or returning, the house feels so empty.
Regards,
Tom

I remember how you comforted me last January when my Mother lost her beloved dog.
So a big hug from here.

Starbkjrus :- I lost my German Shepherd just before Christmas a few years ago. After my divorce she was my true companion and I felt her loss very deeply. I feel for you at this time.

I can feel your loss, had to put my cat down a few years back.
15 years is a good long time so try not to feel the guilt and time does help.

That your home will still be filled with memories of Beau is really no consolation; it will still feel empty for a while. My sincere condolences.

Please accept my condolences at your loss. My own dog passed away while I was at university. We had grown up together, and he slept in my bed from the time he came to us as a pup. I still chuckle over the things we shared and did together. In time, you will remember only the love you had, and you will be able to look back with cherished memories. You should feel no guilt. You shared love, your life, and your home for 15 years. You gave your cat a life to be envied. You will carry that love in your heart forever. Grieve as you must, but leave yourself room in the future to enjoy the memories of the time you shared.
