    Reenacting Pics

A few weeks ago a few of us were asked to put on a gunfight for Tescott, KS. The scenario was the robbery of the Tescott Bank in the late 1800's. A friend finally posted pictures of us preparing for the skit and I thought I'd share. I'm the one with the blue shirt, brown vest, buckskin pants, and black hat with red cord and turkey beard.

What ya cant see is the 90 F heat and high humidity but we survived as did the original bank robbers.

Looks great! They would never allow us to pretend to rob a bank with realistic-looking guns here in Massachusetts!

we only went into the foyer and not in the bank proper and the guns are real. We didn't have any live rounds on us but we do take all the guns we use for this stuff and shoot them for target practice and for hunting. All the bank personnel and local law enforcement are informed before we do anything like this.

Looks like an enjoyable time. What other reenactments does your group perform in?

Anymore the majority of us do buskskinning or fur trade. We are kinda getting away from the skits and going more to living history and teaching rather than carrying on the hollywood west. Added plus is we dont have to fall down since most of us cant get up so easily after almost 20 years of dying in skits.

I can relate to not getting up so easily anymore.

What a motley crew. Were the towns people successful in repelling your incursion? There was a group from around KC that portrayed the Fur Trade Era but do it on a strictly educational basis. Keep up the good work and keep your powder dry.

lol, yea the townspeople did manage to send us packing TheSp8. Its funny to hear peoples reactions when we start shooting because they are expecting little cap gun pops and instead they get a full report, concussion and blind smoke.

There are several fur trade era groups still teaching.

Very cool. I remember a long time ago I went to... theme park is too large a phrase for it... a historical recreation that had a shoot out. I was probably 8 years old and I could not imagine anything cooler. Keep it up, youngsters like me will never forget it.
